San Diego International Airport’s Goodwill Ambassador Program, which gave birth to the Ambassablog, was recognized last night at the 2008 Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards held by the San Diego Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The Goodwill Ambassador Program, which educates and motivates Airport Authority employees to be effective ambassadors for the airport out in the community, received an Award of Merit (2nd Place) in the Internal Communications Category. Other airport communications efforts were also honored at last night’s ceremony, where movers and shakers in the San Diego public relations world gathered at the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park:
- Award of Excellence (1st Place) in the External Web Site category for www.sanplan.com, the airport’s Web site about immediate- and long-term improvements at SDIA.
- Award of Excellence (1st Place) in the Public Service Announcements category for the “Airports Fuel Regional Economies” radio spots.
- Award of Merit (2nd Place) in the Annual Reports category for the Airport Authority’s 2007 Annual Report.
