It’s nice to be recognized for a job well-done, and this past week the Airport Authority was recognized by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) with three distinguished awards. Here’s a news release about it. According to its Web site, the CMAA’s mission is to “promote and enhance leadership, professionalism and excellence in managing the development and construction of projects and programs.”
The Airport Authority was recognized as the Client of the Year. CMAA said the agency goes “above and beyond” in promoting construction management and taking an active part in the CMAA.
Steve, our Director the Terminal Development Program, was recognized as a Distinguished Owner Honoree for his work related to the Terminal 2 West build-out and other immediate-term
improvements at the airport, as well as for his contributions to CMAA on a regular basis by speaking at various events and supporting CMAA staff.
Finally, the airport’s Quieter Home Program received a Project Achievement Award in the category of
buildings/renovations over $10 million. This award recognizes outstanding construction management for local projects completed in the last year.
I think these awards are a true indication of the high caliber of employees we have here at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority!

This is really a great tribute to the Authority’s outreach efforts to provide opportunities to local contractors. And it recognizes how we’re a ‘good neighbor’ through the Quieter Home Program. Kudos to Sjohnna, Steve, and the rest of our staff for this well-deserved recognition!
